MORE OF THE SAME!

Upper management wants to gather employees twice a month, from each section of the screener workforce (checked baggage and checkpoint), to come up with suggestions on how to create a "positive workplace environment."

Do they really need the workforce to tell them what they should already know? They know exactly what has caused the discontent throughout the workforce!  Just who are they trying to kid?

Previous "sessions" with management produced zero results. They wrote suggestions down and pretended that they actually cared enough to make changes. Can anyone point out any positive changes that have been implemented? The only changes that have taken place have been negative. Staffing levels are so low that we can not take our breaks and we are delayed being released at the end of our work shifts. Management wants more production from fewer workers.

So, what is behind this insincere attempt to improve worker morale? If you don't know by now we will tell you...it's more profit for them!

Will Covenant retain this contract to provide an inferior product to the stakeholders? Will a new company assume responsibilities at SFO?

We can and will increase performance for a company that cares and treats their employees with respect and appreciation.
Covenant should be seen for what they truly are. They are a company that has always put "Profit before Product."

U.D voting update!

The Counting of the Mailed in Ballots has been cancelled by The NLRB

On Monday the 19th at 3:00 PM the NLRB cancelled the counting of the mailed in UD ballots for the next day, Tuesday the 21st at 10:00 AM. It was cancelled due to the fact that only 393 ballots (mostly ‘Yes’ votes) were mailed back, 703 employees did not vote. The measure needed 549 votes to pass (50% plus one), half the CAS workforce. Unfortunately, we are still a closed shop as of now; you must pay dues (2.3% of your gross earnings) or get fired. The workers want an open shop! We will try again with a new walk-in election at the Airport!

The Committee of Covenant Screeners will be filing an “Objection to the Election” as soon as possible at the Regional office and also in the main board in Washington D.C. We have asked for a walk in election at the airport before this vote to get a high turnout. In addition, many workers did not get ballots. The harassing methods used by SEIU to intimidate and spread falsehoods are against Federal law. SEIU actions have severely compromised the laboratory conditions for a free, fair, and honest election!

The Good news is SEIU will disappear now for years, will not return phone call or e-mails and will not help you!
All they cared about was your money!

And, as for you, Covenant Aviation:

We sincerely hope that your day of reckoning is fast approaching. We sincerely hope that your days of threats and intimidation will soon come to an end, at least at this airport.

Through the power of the internet, your reputation and style of management will precede you wherever you go.

Your complete and utter disregard for the well being of your employees and their families is well documented.  Your inability to effectively manage and supply a quality product will be your downfall.  Your pursuit of "Profit, at any cost, before Product" is deplorable.

At the very least, you should have been able to supply the stakeholders with what they so richly deserved -- an efficient and professional workforce that is second to none. You should have been able to inspire and motivate the workforce with your leadership and professionalism; sadly, you have not.

Let the chips fall where they may!

Where were they...

When we were bidding for our vacation days off, and the company only offered 10 hours per day?  Where were they when CAS had the bidding start at 0200 hours, with no advanced bidding and without being based on seniority?  Where were they when they should have been there, objecting to those conditions on our behalf?  How could they just stand idly by and allow CAS to only permit one person per day to have a day off?

Now, our do-nothing-but-take-our-dues union has the gall to schedule meetings with the workforce to update us on shop steward training, labor/management meeting outcomes, and their new CBA negotiations plan.

Did the filing of a motion to start the proceedings to have them removed as our union have anything to do with this?  You betcha!
Well, SEIU, it is too late! Nothing that you could say at these meetings will stop what has to be done.  SEIU, your time has come.

More of the same

One full week into our new schedules, we find that it is still "business as usual."
Once again, the scheduling deficiencies of our stellar management team tell a sad tale.
For over ten years, every attempt at crafting a schedule that closely matches flight loads and airline departure timetables has resulted in the same pathetic outcome.

Once again, we are stuck with staffing levels and work assignments that don't match the needs of our stakeholders.

Just how many years does it take to figure this out?

Is this the final standing 8 count?

Thought For The Day!

Is it possible that our number one problem, rude behavior, is a reflection on our number one

manager?  What do you think, Mr. Jeff?  I think it's a good possibility.

( Reader Contribution)

And while we are at it, is anyone impressed with the managerial skills of our crack upper management team?

There was a record number of call outs and no shows today.  (We do have family obligations even if you don't think we do.)

The Dangerous Path of SEIU

It has come to our attention that this bonehead of a union, SEIU, is gathering signatures from the workforce for a strike authorization.  Well, aside from it being just plain stupid, it is also illegal!

We cannot, and should not, even think about going on strike!  Doing so would pit you and everyone that signed that petition on a direct collision course with the TSA.  TSA will have no choice but to fire you. You can and will get fired!

We here at SecurityFirstSFO do not condone or approve this foolish gamble.  Don't follow the advice of this union who has once again shown that they are unqualified to represent us.

A Special Message To Our...

brothers and sisters in the Baggage Community.

At one minute after midnight tonight the former baggage leads will become members of the TSO ranks.

At one minute after midnight CAS will be in violation of the SOP.  Shortly thereafter we will be contacting the Office of the Inspector General outlining these violations.  We will leave no stone unturned in our attempt to remedy this situation.

And The Answer Is 20% !

The Question?  Just how much is the difference in pay that we receive compared to our TSA counterparts?

We have received and verified, from numerous sources, certain information that has come our way.  Raise your hand if you think that we are making more than our counterparts.

Keep in mind that we are working for a "For Profit Company" that puts profit before providing a top notch security product.  Keep in mind that we are working for a company that has mastered the art of sticking it to their employees.

SEIU - When asked by the....

baggage LTSO membership, who, BTW, are full members and pay the maximum rate of dues, what the union planned on doing about their pending demotions to the rank of screener the response that they received from Whitfield McTair was, "absolutely nothing!"

Well, being true to their word, that was exactly what they did.  SQUAT...NADA....ZILCH....ZIPPO.

This is the one time that they actually told the truth!

This is a perfect example of your dues at work.  Just what exactly are they getting paid to do?

Much has been written lately about....

the under reporting of security breaches by the TSA.  So, does what happened at Terminal 2 the other day fall into that category?  Just how much did CAS tell the local TSA?

CAS knows all too well that one of the ways it can lose this contract is by not being able to perform its responsibilities up to the TSA standards.  Just how much can they sweep under the rug?

Saturday, March 24, 2012

What makes an "Untouchable" Touchable?

We all know how management likes to cover up for all those within their "inner" circle, but what has caused that to change? Is sweeping things under the rug no longer fashionable?

When events and misconduct are not kept "in house", CAS has no choice but to take it on the chin.

The suspension of Terminal Manager, Shelley Burrell, for professional misconduct is surely a gigantic black eye for the company. With CAS desperately trying to cling to the appearance of being a company beyond reproach, this incident will only prove to be detrimental to the company.

How the mighty have fallen!

Updated Instructions for mailing the Form!

Our lawyer has stated that there is no need to send your forms as registered mail. All we need to do is to make a good faith attempt to mail it to them.

BTW....have you noticed that Whitfield has reappeared at the airport after being gone for so long? It seems that this letter, and the signup campaign, has caught their attention.

(We are seeing other long missing members of the Oakland chapter of SEIU out here again.)

Get your boots out folks, it's going to get knee high here pretty soon!

Could this be true?

Word has it that the TSA is looking into getting dosimeter badges for the workforce. Of course, they are still sticking to their claims of, "there is no risk to the public or the workforce."

But, to alleviate the concerns of the workforce, they appear to be relenting on the issue of supplying these radiation detection badges.

And The Fight Goes On!

The list of Doctor's and Scientist's against the use of body scanners keeps growing. In an article published yesterday in the SunSentinel, the head of radiology at Florida Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, a Dr. Edward Dauer, focused on specific areas of the body that could be particularly susceptible to these x-rays.

And yet, the TSA seems to be still be refusing to acknowledge what anyone, aside from their own biased sources, has to say about the safety of these machines.

When will they concede to the obvious? These machines are a health threat!

Why Is The TSA Still Insisting....

that there is no danger from the airport body scanners?

The European Commission has ban the use of these machines and this decision affects every airport in Europe.

A recent PBS Newshour/ProPublica report, stated: "Research suggests that anywhere from six to 100 U.S. airline passengers each year could get cancer from the machines."

Maybe the TSA knows better than our overseas partners. What do you think?

Still Too many Problems After 10 Years!

When will the TSA hire someone who can connect all the dots?

In another example, of poor management and communication regarding the sharing of information from the TSA to stakeholders, a report was released on November 21 from the GAO that focused on a glaring discrepancy.

It seems that the TSA has set up a department, called the "Transportation Sector Network Management", that is suppose to share information. The only problem is these officials were unsure of their roles! So, what were they doing instead of what they were hired to do? How about some accountability? There is no acceptable excuse for this!

A Clarification is Necessary!

Re: Our previous posting!

We believe that the dollar value to provide security screening at SFO would be relatively the same, plus or minus 3%, regardless of who does the screening.

The biggest difference is, that under the TSA more of the funds that are getting siphoned off now by CAS would be channeled to the workforce through better benefits, shift differential, more paid holidays (12 versus the 10 we have now), a pension plan, a better quality uniform, shoes that we didn't get this year, sick leave, etc, etc, etc.
