It would be real easy and simple to complain about our bonus checks, particularly the size of it. But to be fair, we really shouldn't. As one who regularly rails against the company for the many negative things it does, we should be grateful. Especially when we consider that supervisors, managers, and local TSA will not be getting raises again.
Yes, we know, they make more money than we do and it is easy not to feel sorry for them, but you'd be peeved too. So we have come up with a solution to this matter.
Cut the fat. Have any of you noticed how every time you turn around there is a new TSA suit? How many of these TSA "managers" does SFO really need? Why are our tax dollars being wasted for all of this management redundancy? When you factor in all of the managers that Covenant has, why is there this need for all of these other TSA suits?
So for TSA, we suggest you get rid of some of that excess. Maybe then TSA can afford to give the rest of you a raise.
Speaking of excessive management, have you ever wondered what exactly is the difference between an ATM and a TM other than pay and title? Yeah, after 8 years we're still trying to figure that one out as well as why we need so many, especially when you factor in the Floor Supervisors. Then again, Floor Supervisors exist so that they can relieve the ATMs and TMs of some of their inordinate amount of work.
Just as we suggested with the TSA folks, get rid of some of that excess. Perhaps then Gerry Berry will be able to scrounge up some coins from his pocket to give the remaining CAS management a raise.
Ahhh, but who do they get rid of??? Well, if this were run like a real business, they'd get rid of the less than stellar people. And only the cream of the crop would remain The problem with that is that it would require a little forethought, something the bosses of CAS care not to do.
So enjoy your bonuses and try not to spend it all in one place.
I am not so convinced if TSA or CAS decide to trim the excess personnel, it would help the rest of the people to get a raise.
ReplyDeleteThey have created a budget system, especially in government or government contractors, either you use the max amount of money allowable in the budget or you see the budget cut the next year. It's use it or lose it system. But seriously, why do we have so much TSA managers walking around, seems like they have enough TSA managers to manage the work force in SFO themselves already when comparing other federalized airports. Why need Covenant? Why do we (the tax payers)pay extra by having a private contractor(CAS) to do same jobs that TSA already have the staffings to do so?
Enjoy the bonus check, everyone!
I agree with you Luke, but the question is when are we going to do "something" about our situation at sfo?
ReplyDeleteWe need to show the tax payers and the traveling public,John Pistole, the SFO airport comission and later on the new chairman on Transportation Security at the Congress that a private security company would do a better job than the TSA is a pure myth .
Let's make the TSA a better federal administration than giving a slice of the pie to vultures of the private sector and calling for airports to opt outof the TSA.
Just a short visit to SFO checkpoints would reveal the truth: moral is down, short staffing is a constant policy of Covenant to maximise profit, a TSO is doing the job of three , isn't a set up for failure?
Let's hire so we can ask for more money .Let's fire so we can keep more money .
One example about the "honesty "of this company Covenant aviation security that lecture it's emplyees every day about integrity speaks for itself: when do they chose to survey passengers about their waiting time and experience going through the checkpoint? when the checkpoint is dead empty. so that passengers would say : oh it took me only two minutes to go through security ,this is great , I like security at sfo..."
isn'it cheating ? talking about integrity !!! hahahaha what a joke.
P&P : Private = PROFIT.
CAS is already cutting corner on expenses to make them more profitable.
ReplyDeleteCAS exists to make profit, security is just secondary.
The problem is not a private company running things. The problem is how the government incentivizes contractors. And security would not be any better with TSA either. You need look no further than John Pistole, the newly appointed head of TSA who admitted that screeners often times missed 100% of test bags.
ReplyDeleteTSA is a mess. Covenant just plays in to it. TSA needs to be completely gutted and rebooted. It's just another government bureaucratic disaster that needs to go.
